Overview: This book is full of perspectives and mindsets that champions use to stay focused, move on, and ultimately succeed.
My takeaway, ‘aha’ moments from this book:
- Mental resources are important to success and can be cultivated.
- There are many decisions that will be the fork in the road that determines if you will accomplish your goals – such as putting off working out, eating too much vs going to the gym, following your nutrition plan.
- Do something every day that moves you closer to your goal.
- Organize your life around your dreams.
- Reducing clutter in your personal sphere will reduce your stress level.
- Mental rehearsal is highly productive!
- Visualization – imagery – is a powerful performance tool.
- Visualization sharpens muscle memory and the mental blueprint.
- Mental toughness comes from repeatedly doing something hard over and over, even when you don’t want to do it.
- When things go wrong, acknowledge and accept it, and then move on. Don’t dwell on it.
- The more you are prepared, the less afraid you will be.
- Intentionally leave your comfort zone behind and chase your dreams.
- Channel negativity into productivity.
- Quality of practice is more important than length of practice: the more quality our preparation the better you will perform.
- A quiet mind is a powerful mind.
