Overview: Your attitude is a choice and affects all aspects of your life.
My takeaway, ‘aha’ moments from this book:
- Value learning and strive to be a life-long learner.
- Your attitude will either attract or repel people.
- Your attitude towards setbacks in life is your choice and will affect your success.
- We need to be intentional about noticing evidence of God’s presence instead of assuming His absence.
- Define events in your life from the perspective of how God sees them: God’s definition not yours. Our perspective of events should be God-pleasing.
- The joy of the Lord is our strength – we cannot expect to go through life triumphantly if we leave our joy at home. (Nehemiah 8:10)
- 4 actions to help you notice God’s goodness in your day:
- Write down the names of people you appreciate.
- Laugh.
- Do something for yourself.
- Make a new friend.
- Remember that unresolved sin will keep you from having a godly attitude.
- Poor thoughts equal poor attitudes.
- When I notice my attitude is poor, I need to self-examine both my input and my thought life.
- I exist for God’s purpose, not my own.
